Board Policies 
The Board of Western Suffolk BOCES has adopted policies for the orderly operation of the agency and the effective education of the students who attend BOCES programs. Board members review a proposed policy at a public meeting(s) and then vote to adopt the policy at a subsequent public meeting.

Pesticide Notification
Section 409H of the NYS Education Law requires Western Suffolk BOCES to advise you of the following:
According to the specifications set forth in the law, there have been no applications of pesticide products from July 1, 2006 to the present in any Western Suffolk BOCES facility.
Pesticide products may be used periodically throughout the school year. BOCES is required to maintain a list of parents, guardians and staff who wish to receive written notice (48 hours in advance) that BOCES plans to apply pesticide within a 72-hour period preceding a school day. For further information or to place your name on the above-mentioned list please send a letter including your name, address and the specific school for which you are requesting notification to: Susan Smith, Administrative Assistant , PO Box 8007, Huntington Station, NY 11746-9007.
The BOCES must also provide notification for each application which required prior notification and each emergency application at four specific times each year.
From March 26, 2010, through June 20, 2010, pesticides were applied outside the following facilities:

AHERA Notification
Asbestos Inspection
In accordance with 40 CFR §763.84.c, regard this statement as the district’s annual notification to all workers, students and or their legal guardians that Western Suffolk BOCES continues to maintain its Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) which documents all performed or planned asbestos related inspections, response actions, and post-response action activities, including periodic reinspection and surveillance activities within the school district. A copy of this AMP is available for review and or inspection in the BOCES Maintenance & Operations Office, 762 Deer Park Rd., Dix Hills, NY.
