Prerequisites
There are no specific academic requirements for entrance into the program. Successful students have a keen interest in aviation, an aptitude for hands-on tasks, an ability to follow directions, and an inclination to pay careful attention to details. Program Length
Students can study full-time or part-time day or evenings. You can earn both licenses in as little as 16 months including attendance in two summer sessions. General Airframe & Powerplant make-up sessions are also available. Semesters run Sept.-Dec.; Jan.-May; and May-Aug.

*Transfer Credits
Wilson Tech accepts transfer credits for work successfully completed in other FAA approved programs. Tech students can earn up to 30 advanced placement credits acceptable at numerous colleges offering associates and bachelor's degrees in aviation technology.

Tuition and Financial Aid
Limited financial resources do not have to limit your dreams! You'll find our tuition is one of the lowest tuitions of the aviation maintenance technology programs on Long Island. To help you reach your career goals, financial aid is available to eligible students. Company tuition programs may also be available. The program qualifies for VA benefits. We also accept VISA and Mastercard.

Tech trains you for a great career and then helps you find that all important first job. Our Job Placement Office offers lifetime placement that later can help you advance in your chosen field.

 

Trained aviation maintenance technicians are in demand on Long Island and around the country. With three major metropolitan airports, six regional airports and numerous power stations, opportunities for career growth on Long Island are readily available.

Q. Do you offer flight training in the Adult Education Program?

A. No. Any individual interested in pursuing a flight program can contact Republic Administration at 631-755-7700 for listing of Fixed Base Operators (FBO's) on the Airport.

Q. When can I start and how long is each program?

A. All day programs begin in September through December and January through May. The Airframe and Power plant sections have an additional section that run each May through August for those individuals who wish to accelerate the time frame.

Q. Do you offer a payment plan?

A. Yes. A deposit is required upon Registration the remaining balance is divided into four (4) payments. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. Company tuition programs, VA benefits and Credit Cards are also accepted.

Q. Can I start the program midway or attend part-time during the day?

A. No. Part-time programs are only offered in the evening and the FAA requires that a student attend the program for a total of 1900 hrs. Any hours missed must be made up at a prorated charge of $8.50 per hour missed.
Students that have completed substantial work at other 147 schools may be granted permission to complete entire subject areas at the specific times they are being offered during the semester at a prorated charge of $8.50 per hour.

Q. Is there a shortage of mechanics?


A. Yes. Aviation Week & Space Technology published an article that by 2006 the airlines will need approximately 155,000 maintenance technicians to meet industry demands.
