This will include information on well-designed assessments to determine where the reading process is breaking down for students. The goal is to have educators evaluate and critique their assessment and intervention practices to ensure that they are aligning with current research. Participants will leave with knowledge of tools that could be incorporated into their assessment batteries and methods for evaluating the reading intervention practices in their districts.Part 2 – Thursday\, February 2\, 2023 This presentation will build on the knowledge from part 1 in terms of how to advocate and make changes to current practices at the systems wide level in the assessment and intervention for reading problems. As part of the presentation\, a curriculum evaluation tool will be shared that districts can use to evaluate current programs and their alignment with the research evidence on effective reading instruction. Examples of exemplar programs for reading instruction will be shared.
