DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour course will help to transform math instruction for educators in grades 3-12. Participants will learn research-based strategies for how to improve whole-class\, small group\, and independent instruction in ways that will have a tremendous impact on student engagement and learning. Participants will learn how to make group work more productive\, how to tweak questioning strategies to promote student autonomy\, creative note-taking strategies\, the importance of where students work in the classroom and new ways to have students record their work. This course will address equity in mathematics by providing tools and strategies that move towards a culturally inclusive mathematics learning environment. In addition\, each class will teach mindfulness strategies as a means of minimizing math anxiety that students can experience.
