On April 21, 2026, Board of Education trustees of the 18 school districts in Babylon, Smithtown and Huntington townships will vote on the proposed Western Suffolk BOCES Administrative Budget. In addition, they will also elect two trustees to the Western Suffolk BOCES Board of Education. Voting takes place in each district. In accordance with state law, each district may cast one vote on the BOCES Administrative Budget and one vote for each vacant seat during balloting scheduled in each district. A majority of the Boards of Education within this BOCES must vote “yes” for the budget to pass.
The two candidates running unopposed for the two seats available are Jeannette Santos and Robert Scheid. Mrs. Santos, who resides in the Amityville School District, has served on the Western Suffolk BOCES Board since 1994 and Mr. Scheid, of North Babylon, has served since 2024.
