What information does Western Suffolk BOCES receive and how do we use it?
When you register for a course at Western Suffolk BOCES through Wilson Technological Center or Careerlearn, we ask you for your name, contact information, preferences, and certain demographic information. This information lets us provide personalized services and communicate individually with you.
Like most websites, we use small bits of data called cookies stored on users’ computers to simulate a continuous connection. Cookies let us “remember” information about your preferences and passwords and allow you to move within our web sites without reintroducing yourself. Recent versions of browsers let you easily see and control cookies.
May I choose what information I disclose?
We need certain information to register you as a unique user and let you access personalized services, such as the Careerlearn on-line program or to register for an adult education course. The majority of our web pages do not request any information from you.
May I choose what communications I receive?
Occasionally, we send email notices to those who have registered for our courses. These newsletters highlight registration deadlines and learning opportunities through Western Suffolk BOCES. You can elect not to receive communications from us by requesting not to be put on the mailing list when you register or by clicking unsubscribe in any email. We hope you will allow us to send you new avenues to improve your skills.
What if I need to review or change the personal information I previously disclosed?
We encourage Western Suffolk BOCES students to update and edit their personal information. You can easily do so at any time by emailing our Registrar or by calling (631) 667-6000 ext. 320.
What kind of security is used to protect my information?
All user information is stored in secure databases protected via a variety of access controls. This data is accessed only for the purposes specified in this privacy statement.
Who has access to my information?
We do not share personally identifiable data with other companies except as necessary to fulfill a transaction you have requested, or unless you otherwise give us permission to do so. Western Suffolk BOCES may also provide such information in response to a legal process, such as a court order or subpoena.
