Food & Nutrition Program

The Western Suffolk BOCES Food & Nutrition Program provides students enrolled in Western Suffolk BOCES full-day school programs, regardless of income or eligibility status, with access to no-cost, nutritionally balanced meals every school day. Our goal is to make sure students have access to the nutrition they need to do their best in school so they can thrive academically and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The meals provided follow the USDA Child Nutrition Meal Pattern, which is carefully designed to promote healthy, balanced eating habits. These standards are vital in providing age-appropriate meals that support both the well-being and academic success of students, while reducing the risk of long-term health issues. By following these guidelines, we aim to offer wholesome, nutritious food that contributes to the overall welfare of our students, allowing them to focus on their education and extracurricular activities without worrying about access to food.

If you have any questions or would like additional information about the program, contact the Food & Nutrition Office at (631) 425-9045 / 9041.

Summer Meal Program: Hunger is one of the most severe roadblocks to the learning process. Lack of nutrition during the summer months may set up a cycle for poor performance once school begins again. The U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with organizations in our area to provide free meals through the Summer Food Service Program (SFEP). This program provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to eligible families to help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow, throughout the summer months when they are out of school. For site contact information and times of service, please call 1- 800-522-5006 or the National Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3HUNGRY.
