Next Generation Instruction: HANDWRITING, TYPING & WORD PROCESSING FLUENCY VIRTUAL Three-hour session facilitated by Dana Brown – 8:30-11:30am
The prekindergarten-3rd grade writing instructional best practices guide will help us update our writing workshop practices to the Science of Reading research and ensure we are bringing play-based instruction to this area of our curriculum. In this 3-hour workshop, we will update our following practices: -Teach P-3 students how to build fine motor skills (e.g. how to hold writing utensils, finger painting, playdough manipulation, tearing paper, etc.) -Expose children to keyboards gaining a general familiarity with letter placement -Teach students how to hold a writing utensil correctly and form letters fluidly and efficiently -Encourage the use of technology and word processing tools to type and revise text Let’s take a developmental approach to teaching our youngest learners these crucial modern world skills! Eligible for 3 hours CTLE credit. Can use ½ consortium seat. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
