Effective Teaching Methods for Informational Text in the Elementary Grades K-5 *IN PERSON* 3-hour Workshop facilitated by Alison Leveque and Kinjal Nicholls – 8:30-11:30am
Research supports having children understand and interact with complex, informational texts across content areas. Students benefit from explicit instruction in identifying text structure, examining text features, and distinguishing salient from less relevant information as they build comprehension and new knowledge. This workshop provides educators with a robust, integrated approach to effectively use informational texts in daily lessons. Eligible for 3 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1-1/2 Consortium seats. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
