Effective Techniques for Co-teaching English Language Learners VIRTUAL 3-hour Workshop facilitated by Pamela Solomon – 11:30-2:30pm
Co-teaching can provide powerful opportunities to support ENL students while maintaining access to grade-level content and rigorous learning experiences. This workshop will explore practical co-teaching models and strategies that promote effective collaboration between ENL and content-area teachers. Participants will examine ways to share instructional responsibility, plan lessons collaboratively, differentiate instruction, scaffold academic language, and provide targeted support based on students’ linguistic and academic needs. Through practical examples and activities, participants will explore how co-teachers can use flexible grouping, modeling, questioning, visuals, sentence frames, and collaborative learning to increase student engagement and participation. The session will also address ways to establish clear roles and responsibilities, maximize instructional time, and create an inclusive classroom where ENL students can develop language skills while successfully accessing grade-level content. Eligible for 3 hours CTLE credit. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
