COPE for School Counselors and Social Workers FREE VIRTUAL 1-1/2 Hour Session – 8:30-10am

This session provides an up-to-date overview of concussion science and management, informed by the 2022 Amsterdam International Consensus Statement. Participants will learn how to recognize concussion, understand current management recommendations, and support students as they return to school following a concussion. The session will focus on practical, school-based strategies, including academic adjustments, communication and collaboration with school teams, and supports that promote a successful return to learning. Particular attention will be given to the social-emotional and mental health impact of concussion, including recognizing when a student may need additional support or referral. Note for Social Workers: BIANYS is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions as an approved provider of continuing education for Social Work (#0539). Attendees may receive a certificate upon completion of the required evaluation. Eligible for 1-1/2 hours CTLE credit.
