Picture Books that Make Our Youngest Students Feel Seen Gr K-1 *IN PERSON* presented by Sarah Cordova / Literacy Matters – 8:30-2:30pm
In the early years of school, every story we share can be a little bit of magic. When children open a book and spot a character who looks like them, lives like them, or feels the way they do, it’s more than a story-it’s a moment of connection. It’s a way of saying, You matter here. In this session, we’ll dive into picture books that help every child feel valued and included. These books will spark giggles, wonder, and big conversations-all while offering easy ways to weave in mini-lessons for early writing. You’ll leave with a stack of culturally responsive stories and fresh ideas to fill your classroom with joy, belonging, and the beautiful message that everyone’s story matters. Eligible for 6 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1 Consortium seat. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
