Re-childing – A Playshop for the Educators *IN PERSON* facilitated by Rev Laura Tria – 8:30-2:30pm
The word “adulting” often brings to mind responsibility, structure, and the many skills we’ve practiced since childhood-skills first modeled by our earliest educators: parents, teachers, counselors, and elders. We learned how to walk and speak, how to sit properly at a table, how to follow directions, and how to succeed within systems. We learned to read, write, remember, and perform. We moved from grade to grade, meeting expectations, passing tests, and preparing for the moment we would step fully into adulthood. And now-you are the educator. You hold space for learning. You guide, support, and shape others. You manage responsibilities that extend far beyond the classroom. And somewhere along the way, many educators quietly ask:
• Why am I so stressed?
• Where did the wonder go?
• When did play become something extra, instead of essential?
• What happened to the joy, the curiosity, the music? This playshop is an invitation. Not to abandon the wisdom and responsibility that adulthood requires-but to reclaim and reintegrate the childlike qualities that make great educators truly transformative: curiosity, imagination, presence, and joy. Re-Childing is about remembering that play is not separate from learning-it is learning. It’s about reconnecting with the part of yourself that once explored freely, created boldly, and experienced the world with awe. In this interactive playshop, educators will:
• Reawaken imagination through guided creative experiences
• Reconnect with joy, curiosity, and embodied learning
• Explore playful practices that can be brought back into educational spaces
• Restore a sense of wonder-for themselves and those they teach Eligible for 6 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1 consortium seat. Eligible for Guidance Consortium. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
