Small Group Work in Reading Comprehension Grades 4-5 3-hour Workshop facilitated by Karen Lucchese – 8:30-11:30am
Participants will learn how to develop small group reading sessions to help strengthen comprehension skills while building confidence and a love of reading. The small groups will cover all areas of reading comprehension such as -improving reading fluency, -expanding vocabulary skills, -identifying main ideas and supporting details, and -practice making predictions. The participants will learn various management tricks as well as using data to place students in the appropriate group. Time will be provided to review materials that may be used in the small group and that supports the reading curriculum. Eligible for 3 hours CTLE credit. If district pays, district approved must be confirmed prior to start of session. Can use 1/2 consortium seat.
