Data-Based Insights on Student Performance in Elementary Mathematics Aligned to Portrait of a Graduate – A Three-Day Professional Learning Series for K-5 Math Educators *IN PERSON* facilitated by Heidi Bromley-8:30-2:30pm
Audience: K-5 Educators, Math/STEM Administrators, Lead Teachers, Math Coaches. Great opportunity to send teams of teachers from same district to develop coherence and alignment. This three-day workshop series is designed for elementary mathematics teachers (Grades K-5) who want to develop or refine standards-based assessments that generate actionable data to support student success. Grounded in the NYS Next Generation K-5 Mathematics Learning Standards and the newly adopted NY Inspires and Portrait of a Graduate initiatives, participants will learn how to create or revise chapter and unit assessments and accompanying rubrics that are accessible to the students they serve while providing valuable information for instructional decision-making, professional reflection, and Professional Learning Community (PLC) discussions. *Day 1 (October 9): Participants will engage in professional learning focused on high-quality assessment and rubric design aligned to the NYS Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards. The session will also introduce effective practices for analyzing and using assessment data in formative and productive ways. *Day 2 (November 9): Participants will bring two to three upcoming mathematics assessments to revise or redesign, including the development of standards-based scoring rubrics. At least one of these assessments should be administered to students prior to the final session. *Day 3 (December 9): Participants will bring completed student assessments (originals or copies) and reflect on the effectiveness of the assessment design, rubric implementation, and resulting data. Through collaborative analysis, participants will explore how assessment results can inform instructional practices and future assessment development. **Bring your own Device** Eligible for 18 hours CTLE credit. Can use 3 consortium seats. If district pays, district approved must be confirmed prior to start of session.
