COPE for Physical Education and Health Teachers FREE VIRTUAL 1-1/2 Hour Session – 8:30-10am
This professional learning session provides an up-to-date overview of concussion science and management, informed by the 2022 Amsterdam International Consensus Statement. Participants will learn practical strategies for recognizing concussion, understanding current management recommendations, and supporting students throughout recovery. The session will focus on the role of physical education and health teachers in promoting safe participation and recovery, including strategies for supporting students as they progress through return-to-physical-education (RTPE) and return-to-sport (RTS). Return-to-Learn and classroom considerations will also be addressed, highlighting the importance of communication and collaboration among school personnel, families, healthcare providers, and athletic staff. Through real-world examples and practical strategies, participants will be better prepared to recognize concussion, support recovery, and promote a safe and successful return to school, physical activity, and sports. Eligible for 1-1/2 hours CTLE credit.
