Scaffolding Success: Supporting MLLs on the Newly Required WIDA Assessment in Content-Area Classrooms (Grades 6-12) *IN PERSON* facilitated by Jacqueline Darvin, PhD – 8:30-2:30pm

May 3, 2027 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

This workshop is aimed at teaching middle and high school core content area teachers (ELA, Social Studies, Math and Science) how to better support their English Language Learners/Multilingual Learners (ELLS/MLLS) on the newly required WIDA Assessment that is replacing the NYSESLAT in spring 2027. Aligned with NYSED’s Portrait of a Graduate, these strategies will help MLLs move toward attaining the NY State Seal of Biliteracy, a new diploma designation which will formally honor students who attain proficiency in English and one or more other languages. Participants are asked to please bring a laptop and some current lesson plans/curriculum to the session. Eligible for 6 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1 consortium seat. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
