Rooted Presence: The Art of Embodied Teaching *IN PERSON* facilitated by Lorraine Trentini – 8:30-2:30pm
This immersive full-day workshop invites educators to explore the psyche-soma connection-the interplay between mind, body, and lived experience-and how it shapes presence, energy, and connection in the classroom. Through reflective inquiry and experiential learning, participants will examine how alignment and disconnection within this relationship influence thoughts, emotions, behavior, and overall well-being. Grounded in both philosophical and contemporary perspectives, the workshop considers the psyche as the inner dimension of self and the soma as the embodied, physical experience of being human. Drawing on thinkers such as René Descartes, Carl Jung, and Sigmund Freud, alongside modern understandings of trauma and embodiment, participants will explore how mind and body function as an integrated system. Educators will reflect on how stress, anxiety, emotional fatigue, and chronic strain manifest physically and affect teaching, learning, and connection with students. They will learn to recognize signs of psyche-soma disconnection and engage in practical, embodied strategies to restore balance, presence, and inner coherence, including tools that support nervous system regulation and sustained well-being in educational settings. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of mind-body unity and concrete practices to foster alignment, resilience, and wholeness in both themselves and their classrooms. Eligible for 6 hours CTLE credit. Can use 1 consortium seat. Eligible for Guidance Consortium. If district pays, district approval must be confirmed prior to start of session.
